distributor end play 94 s-10 vortech
Hi have another question regarding the allowable end play. does any body have some expertise in this area? i bought a rebuilt distributor with module. it had the same amount of end play as the unit i removed. it seems that the timing will change if the shaft rises one eighth of an inch.
my manuals have no mention of the gap.it will surely alter the timing, two degrees on accel. and deaccelerration.. any help here ted |

Re: distributor end play 94 s-10 vortech
your distributer cap has a little spring tension pushing onto the router... so the shaft probably wont move.
if the shaft just moves up a little, and doesn't slap around side to side you should be fine. Quality control is pretty good on most re-built parts, so they would have hopefully rejected it if it wasn't up to spec's |

the problem i see is that with helical cut gears on the cam,the natural forces of this is thrust .i believe the end play should be,one thirty second or less. the spring tension in the cap cannot over come this much pressure.i,ll have to check with the dealer on this. thanks for your prompt response teddy |
