Just bought a Geo Metro from auction and I noticed that the "Check Engine" will flash once, pause, then flash twice. Any Ideas what it could be? Is there a code book or something online to decypher the flashes/codes?

Re: Check Engine flashes once, then twice??
I had the same problem before, Unfortunatly it's a code that could be because of a few things, get a chilton manual for starts. If I remember right I recall my problem was with the timing.

Re: Check Engine flashes once, then twice??
code 12 means everything is working right. to get it to stop flashing the code under that dash where the fuse box is you will see one fuse that sticks out a little farther than the others, if you remove that fuse the light will stop flashing. that fuse only needs to be in when your checking the engine codes

EH?
If I am reading you right then I would have to assume that the check engine light is constantly on and flashing, which I know it does not unless there actually is a problem. My GEO Metro did the exact same thing that New2metro says is happening to him and when I took my car to my mechanic WHOM ran the code it was a problem with the timing. I put in a new belt, automatic tensioner, and reset the timing, and reset the check lite, No more flashing ...... New2metro, get ya a Chilton manual( Good idea to have one) there is a chapter on diagnostic's and it can tell ya what the different flash codes mean -APPROXIMATELY that is - But he does have a point, ya can keep the fuse out til ya need to read the code. |

If it's flashing, there's a fuse in the diagnostic fuse seat. Part of the fuse box, away from all the other fuses, under the dash.
