Question fuel door

Hi, i just bought a 95 talon tsi awd, nice car! question is my fuel door will not open unless someone holds the latch up inside while another opens the door outside. i have bent the latch on the door so i can fill up by myself, but just want ths to be a temp fix. can u guys tell me if your door has a spring in it so that when u pull the latch the door opens past the latch. thx all

Re: fuel door

I have this same problem with my trunk, I have to make several trips from my latch opener I guess you would call it to the trunk, pulling up to see if it popped all the way.

Re: fuel door

I would check that cable that operates the release for the door, prolly got loose, just unscrew the little plate that goes over the lever and inspect it. then i would check out the one hooked to the fuel door latch. Hope this helps, peace

Re: fuel door

the problem is the spring that pops the door out. try wd40'ing the hinges and mechanisisms at the fuel door. im not sure how its setup on a 2g but if you can pull it open while you hold the release then the problem isnt the release cable.
