Passat W8

Hello,

I am both new to this forum and to VW ownership. I just bought a 2002 Passat W8 Wagon. Love this car! It is my pride and joy after only 1 week. I am posting here to pick the brains of anyone who can lend advice to W8 ownership specifically or VW ownership in general.

Some of the info I'm looking for:
-Premium fuel...fact/fiction, is this essential?
-Recommended upgrades from OEM(brakes, air filter, tires etc.)
-Additional(other than scheduled service) maintenance concerns, tips
-Has anyone had trouble w/ alignments?

That's it for now. This is an AWESOME vehicle, and I would appreciate anyone who can help me baby it.

Re: Passat W8

MY Passat has the 1.8T engine, not near the powerplant yours has and it definitely must have premium fuel. Don't let news reports saying that high test is a waste of money fool you. The newer VW engines need the extra octane or they knock badly.
I envy you! Hope you enjoy it!

Re: Passat W8

The rear alignment is a real pain, Specialty Shim Company now makes a kit to allow adjustment.
