Angry Cop "Paced" and I got a ticket.. NEED HELP

Hello. My name is Jon.. i was driving my truck, this cop pulls up next to me - looks over, slams on his brakes, and then pulls me over!!
He comes up to me, and says "You know, I tried to help you out, and you just looked over at me and then kept on going on and you didnt care" he said i was was supposedly going "47" which may or may have not been true. But theres no way for him to prove it at all. I m going to at least post pone it once or twice hoping he doesnt show up.
1) Is this a good method?
2) If he does come, "Guilty with explanation" and say recently i had back surgery and i am on a shit load of meds. Would a good excuse be that i was in a hurry to get to a store to get a drink and take my three medicines that i need that i was late on taking that day?
3) Any other tips any one can give me to help me out?? lol thanks everyone
Jon

First off, dont make excuses, it just makes you look like an ass. And if you're gonna try and get out of it in court, dont post pone, be honest and polite with the judge and ask alternatives to having the ticket on your record. Judges hate cocky, excuse making people, just tell the truth and accept what happens.

Bringing up the drugs is not a good idea IMO. It might get you into more trouble for operating the vehicle while under the influence of these drugs, which is a whole lot worse than just a speeding ticket.

I just want to say that, I hope you realize just how pathetic all of your excuses are. I hope you havent gotten away with things all your life with excuses that lame. Do not attempt any of the methods you said in your post. Admit it, and ask for an alternative to a ticket, and cross your fingers.

And after you do that, dont say "Oh by the way, I was in a hurry because..." Just don't.

so, let me get this straight.....

you were speeding, got caught, now you want to not accept responsibility for your own actions?

just pay the fine, and ease off on the foot.

learn from it and move on.

Whoaa

Sorry guys.. its seemed i "pissed" some people off with my ignorance of the court system. The only way i can possibly learn anything about how to properly go about obtaining knowledge on any subject matter is to simply ask. The only dumb question is a question not asked..
Thank you for the blunt and straight forward comments. I believe i will go there.. see if the cop shows up - if he doesnt - its a bonus.. if he does - then i will simply state its been three 3 years since the last ticket and or accident and ask for an alternative from the judge.
Say.. "Traffic School" or something else.
Thanks
Jon

47 in a what? how fast were you over the limit? if it was a 47 in a 40 or something then "pacing" you is not accurate enough to give you a ticket. if his speedometer is off 2-3miles per hour and yours is off 2-3 miles per hour then bingo your not speeding. 2-3 miles per hour is a very very believeable amount for a speedo to be off as well.

I'd say since he has no prrof and he'll have to admit he didn't use his radar by your accounts of it then the judge will more than likely throw it out as long as you weren't doing 47 in a 25 or something.

Re: Cop "Paced" and I got a ticket.. NEED HELP

if your last ticket and everything as been at least three years, I see no reason why the courts would choose to hammer you hard, or even medium in any way. you have shown that your a decnt driver, not getting tickets all the time.... unless you got thousands those years back, but even then you can show that you have changed your ways and went the time without getting any. just be honest, ask to move the ticket from a violation to an infraction. with that history, the judge shouldnt have a problem doing that, and then pay the fine, and watch that foot!

Re: Cop "Paced" and I got a ticket.. NEED HELP

First off there is alot of misinformation in this thread:
1) a cop can most definantly give you a ticket by pacing you...hell he can simply pull you over and by sight. In court it is his word against yours...who do you honestly think the judge will believe. If he says you were speeding, then unless you can discredit his method of gauging your speed than you are getting the ticket...and don't think a question like "is is possible your speedo was off?" will work.
2) I don't know who told you that cops don't usually come to their court dates...it is nice if they happen to miss it, they are people too, but chances are...they will be there.

Now what was true, was what everyone said about excuses, don't bother, they don't work, the judge has heard them all and unless you have someone bleeding in the backseat...chances are he wont accept them as valid.

There are a billion threads about speeding tickets in this section of the forum. Read some, I know I've given advice on getting tickets reduce in at least a dozen threads in the last few weeks. Also check out www.beatmyspeedingticket.com the site has some good advice that will assist you in court. They sell a $30 book called case dismissed...you can try it if you want, I've heard many good things, but I've also heard from one or 2 people that is was hard to use...so that is really up to you.

Re: Cop "Paced" and I got a ticket.. NEED HELP

speedometers are off any where from 1-5 mph. If he wasnt clocking you, he has no proof that you were speeding. COPS SUCK. they just pick out young kids to see what they are doing, even if you arent speeding. I would try to fight it.... exercise your rights

There is no doubt that some cops suck towards younger ppl ( like me)
but there cars mph are calibrated all the time so you cant say that and you will get the ticket if you try to. Excuses are the worst thing to do.

Re: Re: Re: Cop

So what was the outcome of this ticket? Did you go to court? Was it dismissed or the fine reduced??

Just curious because I just received a paced speeding ticket at 10:00pm on a dark country road. I KNOW I wasn't going 80 mph in a 50 - no way. I'm 53 years old and don't even drive that fast on an interstate. But it's my word against the officers. When the lights went on, I looked down and my speedometer said 64 mph. That is much more realistic. Yes I was speeding, but NOT to the excess the officer nailed me for.

It sucks when they can't be honest, but I'm hoping for a lienent judge.
