2005 Civic SI

So I looked in the paper today in the Wheels section of the Burlignton County Times and they had the new Coupe version of the Civic SI it was silver with what it looked like a carbon fibered hood?? They said it was puttin out 200 hp I-VTEC with a 6 speed tranny with Brembo brake calib. The called it the concept car. They said the car should be out in the fall. I know they already have the SI Hatch do they make a coupe for the 05 yet? Also Im bout to by a brand new car around the fall time.....Would I be better off buying this new SI coupe or the RSX Type - S Im kinda split after seeing this car in the paper today.

There is no Coupe SI for 2005, just the hatch. The coupe comes out in 2006, plus its only a concept...

Re: 2005 Civic SI

Yup. The car will be toned down a bit before it hits your local honda dealers shelves. I think (not sure) that they might be getting rid of the rsx since they are going to have a similar car under the honda badge. Personally I would wait and see what the coupe is going to have when they come out with it. If it does keep the 200hp engine and the 6 speed with LSD Id definately get that over the rsx

The thing they debuted at the Chicago auto show was only a concept, but that's 90% of what it's actually going to look like. My bet is that it only loses the rims, black hood, the drop, blacked out headlights and maybe the brakes, foglights and spoiler.

We'll all see what they look like when they debut the production model at SEMA this year.

What if they are planning something bigger with the RSX? I haven't heard of RSX sales dropping and they have sold well since the remodel and name change. They might just suprise us with a monster RSX that will be able to keep up with the SRT-4 and Cobalt SS.

Re: 2005 Civic SI

I thought the cobalt ss was pretty slow. Isnt it pretty heavy and only putting down like 200 hp?

Anyway, I have just heard rumors that they are getting rid of the rsx, see the civic si is pretty much all the goodies of an rsx just in a slightly different body. But I deffinately wouldnt complain if they came out with a 250hp rsx...mmm...think about how sexy that would be.

I bet the SS is pretty torquey though. FI factory cars are usually pretty easy to upgrade and get more HP out of too. Just install a smaller pulley for more boost on the SS, cheap upgrade.

Well, if they get rid of the RSX, I'm not going to miss it honestly.

True, I forgot about the fact that they can add a lot of power for what we would pay for a CAI.

As far as missing the rsx, yeah, if they get rid of it ill miss its cute face so much smiling at me when I pass the dealership. But it is starting to get overplayed a little bit, not that its a bad car, its a great car, but kids are thinking that because of how popular it is and a bunch of hype around it that its like an unbeatable car. Granted these are the same kids that think their stock civic with a muffler runs an 11 sec 1/4 mile but still.

Exactly. For the $1000 we would spend on E/H/I they can spend on BPUs and get way more horsepower for their dollar.

Re: 2005 Civic SI

Thanks guys I would think that those kids with there stock civics cant afford a a RSX. NE wayz my dad is looking to buy a Diamanta so the dealer let me test drive the EVO MR sweeet. My mind is shifting to ALL Wheel TURBOOoooo. 39k though....
I also heard that they are making or have made superchargers for the RSX that should put it at the 250hp range no prob....

Re: 2005 Civic SI

Jackson Racing's race kit will put down 250hp to the wheels on the rsx-s. Although the engine is tuned a little more favorably towards n/a applications. I would either swap out for some low compression pistons and go turbo or get some more agressive cams. For the same ammount of money on the race kit you can probably build it up close to 250hp n/a.

Just as a side note, I will miss the hatch style

Re: 2005 Civic SI

possibly a stupid question, but i'm doing a speech and i need some insight. If i had a stock 05 civic si (160hp 2.0l) what would i have to do to bring it to 300hp? as well as how much would it cost?

any help is greatly appreciated

Re: 2005 Civic SI

Talk to the lovely people at cybernation motorsports. www.cybernationmotorsports.com The only people I know of pushing 300hp out of a k20a3 are running their turbos. Thats on stock internals too. I would say at the least it would cost around $5000 to get it up to 300whp

It has been tested by respectable magazines and has run a 14.4 @ xx and a 14.6 @99. In both cases, it had a few 10ths of a second on the RSX

I am sure they can do better with a more qualified driver. There were a few doing some runs in North Providence and they were waiting to get in line with cars such as the SRT-4 and the 05 Mustang to test themselves rather than the integras and civics at the races.

There was a stripped down one with an aftermarket exhaust and pully(looked cool, no goofy wing). It ran a 14 flat @ 10X with a very bad 60 ft. I didn't have the chance to see it run again, but I could easily see something in the area of a 13.8.
