Skill level required for shift kit install

I've been thinking about getting a shift kit by transgo for my truck. They seem reasonably priced. My question is two fold.

1) Will a shift kit be beneficial?

2) Would I be getting in over my head with the installation?

The kit states that it can be installed without removing or lowering the tranny. I would consider my self a novice when it comes to car mechanics. I do have friends that are far more knowledgeable and should have any tool required for the job. I suppose I should also ask, Are there any special tools required for this job?

1. yes, you'll need a tune for best results
2. moderate and messy, if its a basic kit where you drill some of the seperater plate holes bigger and swap out some springs, only special tool is a torgue wrench, watch the video a couple times and go over the printed directions, give yourself at least a half day, take your time and you sould do fine

I've heard alot of good thing about b&m tranny fluid, when you go to refill your tranny, you might think about filling it with it. double check the kit to make sure everything is in the kit you need and make sure it is the right kit. I did this mod on a mustang and the kit was missing the main seal and the part number was right but everything in the first kit was for a chevy. I put a stage 3 kit in the mustang and it wasn't uncommon to get 2 and 3 gear scratches without trying. haven't tryed it on my silverado yet but curious to see what you think. let us know which level you go and how it turns out.
