87 GT Cobra.. Such thing?

Hi again, It turns out that LX I was looking at was a notchback, I don't like the style, I wanted the hatchback. But it's good, because I have found another, this one sounds excellent to me, I just have a question because he said it's a 87 GT Cobra, but I've never heard of a Cobra in 87. He sent me 2 pictures (he lives 120km away from me) that ill show you. It has T-Tops too which I wasn't really looking for, but I wanted a sun-roof.. so.. even better. they're shown in the 2nd picture.

Did they make 87 GT Cobras?

$6000 (canadian) for the car, 206000km, power everything, no a/c (don't care for a/c anyway), 5-speed 5.0 obviously. Thank you again for your help!

GT Cobra was the name given to Canadian GT's to make them sound cooler. So Canadian GT Cobra = American GT.

GT's sold in Canada often had the Cobra badge put on by dealers to try and make it sould classy. It's nothing more the a regular GT. The REAL fox Cobra's were born in 93. There's no added value to the car, so don't let him try to use that as a selling point.

Yah, I won't, I thought it was kind-of odd that I've never heard of one and couldn't find anything about them on the net, and I've done a lot of research into these cars trying to figure out which ones are worth getting, last of the real cars and they're damn good lookin' too.

Anybody know how the T-Tops were? for squeaking and leaking? since it is almost a 19 year old car, and im sure the gaskets for them are a good $400 if it needs them. I never even knew they came with T-Tops before I talked to this guy.

Another question, how much better is the MAF sensor over the Air density sensor that the 87 had? Noticeable difference? What would be involved in switching it over to a MAF sensor if there is a noticeable difference, just a new computer? or does the car have a completely different harness?

As long as the car is in good shape and no rust around the tracks it will be fine. The weather stripping is also a good thing to replace on a 19 year old car.

I love t-top cars! I plan on buying one in the future. you just have to look a little closer when buying one for the obvious reasons of beating abd neglect.

SD is not bad. A stock SD car will actually be slightly faster then stock MAF car. Just the thing is that SD doesn't handle major mods to well and MAF does.

Thanks again I've never seen a mustang T-Top, but from the pictures that guy sent me, it looks pretty nice, unique too. I'll probably go take a look at it this weekend. I just asked about how they leaked because if it leaks, i'll use that as a part of my haggling down of the price, I'll phone a parts store and get a quote on what they're worth, last car I got one for was a corvette and it was something like 500 for the gaskets.. eep.

I know what to look for when purchasing a car, I'm only 17, but, I work on cars at a shop for a living, so I have a good amount of knowledge. Rust is always the first thing I look for, I can repair anything mechanical, but when it comes to rust, I have to hand it over to the body shop, so ususally buy vehicles with a blown motor/trans but have a good body (ie. 1 of my olds and my Grand Prix).

One more question, that car has 4-bolt pattern axels/wheels... would it be possible to change the axels with say a '90 to get the 5-bolt pattern? Thanks again!
