Sandblasting OR Bead blasting
Since I am pulling my engine to paint the engine bay all nice and pretty I decided there isn't much point unless I make the engine to where it can be eaten off of as well. So I have been pricing inexpensive bead blasters and reading forums all over the web and reviews about cheap blasters with comforting results. However the only problem I run into with a inexpensive bead blaster is that I dont' think I'm goign to be able to fit all the parts in that I want so here is the question. Why can't I just use my Sand blaster and put a REALLY fine sand in there? Will that cause that much pitting and such? I plan on doing the complete Intake manifold and attaching pieces, I want to do the valve cover, I want to do exhaust Manifold and attching pieces. I am considering doing the head also the plan there is to leave it on the block leave the valve cover on and make ABS pieces that cover each intake port and each exhaust port then bolting these abs pieces on there and doing the same where the Timing sensor is, and masking off anything below the head anyone see anyproblems with doing this? After I get everything Blasted I want to hightemp Clear most of it and then Powder coat some of it. I would just like some advice before I get beads or sand in somewhere that I REALLY dont' want it to be. Also wanted to know if I could get a sand fine enough that I could just use it instead of useing a bead blaster?
