Uneven brake pad wear

I have a 2003 venture, just changed front brake pads for the first time since owning it. I bought it brand new. One pad was very very worn, and the other was only at 50 percent. Is it common to have such a difference in the wearing of the front pads? Warranty expires in April and I need to make sure there isn't an underlying problem covered by warranty.

Hello there

It is common to have more wear on the inside pad than the outside one , but 50% less is quite a bit. You need to have your brake calipers lubricated once and awhile, preferably every year. (that's what I do)
This will eliminate the caliper staying squeezed a little harder than normal all the time, and wearing your pads. They should be doing that for you at the dealership since your under warranty. Ask them about a brake service. They may charge for it, but it will save you money in replacing pads so often.
Tell them to explain how they do it and do it yourself , not hard to do.
