Question How to tighten Automatic Seat Belts

Hey,
I just noticed that my Automatic Seatbelts don't tighten up when I pull really hard (with the engine on) I was wondering if anyone succesfully ever tried to fix that.

I took off the cover on the retractors and can see that there are two covers inside, one of them says "Do Not Remove". The other one doesnt and there are wires going into it. I guess thats for the tensioner to turn off as the seatbelts rolls into place.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Frank

Yes I know Auto S/B;s are not cool and pose a severe strangulation risk, but they save $200 a year in car insurance.

Re: How to tighten Automatic Seat Belts

you can 200 a year by switch to geico

take it to honda, let them look at it. honda warranties all seat belts for life so if the seatbelt is defective, they will replace it for you for free. take it to honda and see if they will do it for free

you could also drive into a tree at 100 mph...(lets hope you can go 100mph) if they dont work...well i guess you wont be telling us how it went. but really you shouldnt have to try too hard to get it to lock, hard breaking and a slight tug should do it.
the other way is just me having fun at the track...unless you want to get a wreckless driving tickit do it somewhere you wont be seen...

Re: How to tighten Automatic Seat Belts

my seatbelts in the front seat also don't lock as easily as the back seatbelts. like in other cars i bend down to pick something up and cant cuz it locks. but in the civic it doesnt lock that easily. it needs a hard jerk to lock though for me.
