Exhaust smell from trunk to passenger area

Currently experiencing exhaust scent/odor strong from trunk to cabin section of 1992 camry. Looked at all moldings, found to be ok. took it to (2) different mechanics unable to solve. Air condition works great, Outside circulating vent is either in the close or open position still the same results. Muffler is in excellent conditions, no holes. please help.

Check to see that your vent is actually moving when you change from "outside air" to "Recirculate". It may be stuck on "Recirculate".

Re: Exhaust smell from trunk to passenger area

Under the rear seat, there is an access door or cover to the fuel pump and fuel level sending unit. This cover could be loose or the seal is bad. The rear seat can be removed easily by lifting the front of the rear seat up and pull out.
