97 grand prix GT electrical problem(still)
ANY help would be much appreciated. When in reverse or going forward ONLY after starting the car I get a brief but powerful electrical outage which dims the lights and the brakes lose power for that brief split second as well. I have had the battery checked, the alternator is fine, I have tried my best to retrace any loose wiring coming to and from the battery and all wiring seems fine( the location of the battery on this car is not user friendly). I also checked both fuse banks and there are none that are blown. THe electrical outage makes a brief sound as well which is hard to describe, the other strange problem with this problem, is that the problem does not immediately happen when putting the car in drive or reverse it can happen 30 seconds backing up or driveing forward?? So I think it does not just happen when the engine rocks. I have no idea what could be causing my repair headache...possibly a bad spark plug or corroded wire?????

I had a wire go out, that runs across the top of my rad. Took a long time to find. Ran from the PCM across the rad to the IC (ignition control), Damn thing drove me nuts. A friend who ownes a shop found it, after we unwrapped the tape and took each wire apart. Car would run strong, then cut out, wouldn't go over 30 MPH. Then run great. What I'm trying to say is, it may take a little time to find it. May even take a pro.
