94 Blazer Computer
I own a 94 chevy s10 blazer with a 4.3 vortec. Recently the car had a horrible carbon build up problem which basicly caused the engine to just be bad(problems listed latter in thread) and after a dyno from the chevy garage(last resort) it said i had weak fuel injectors. So since i had a totaled gmc jimmy in my driveway i swaped engines. Currently my blazer has a 94 gmc jimmy 4.3 vortec with 60 k on it. My problem is that i have horrible power loss and the car is running like it did with the old engine with 130 k on it. Problems that occor becides power loss are sputtering from the exaust and a rough engine shaking when leaving intersections. Gas mileage has droped form 275 per tank to 215 as well in the 4 weeks ive had it. My mechanic said that a swap in the computers would help me and since i have one in my jimmy, why not. But my question is i can not locate my computer, does anyone know where the computer is locaited or what should i do
thanks |

Re: 94 Blazer Computer
The computer is in front of the glove box under the dash. Look up under there and you'll see a bracket and the ECM over toward the passenger side somewhat. One or two screws at the bottom and it will pull down and out. There is a lug on top that just centers it. Could be another problem but this is a place to start since you already have it. Have you cleaned the EGR valve lately? Sure sounds like a symptom of this stuck open slightly with a chunk of carbon, and also these EGR valves in 93 and 94 were known to get wet and go bad, but you'd get a service engine light normally.

Re: 94 Blazer Computer
Could also be an ignition concern, possible bad ignition coil.
