Re: 17 Inch Tires on a 1997 Prelude
You probably wont.. 215s are fairly small for a 17 inch wheel.

215/45 will raise the overall diameter by a bit, but it should be fine. You can also go 225/40 (which will be closer to your stock overall diameter)
I doubt you'll have any rubbing problems with either choice, the stock fenderwells on preludes are pretty big.

Re: 17 Inch Tires on a 1997 Prelude
i thought the 205, 215, 225 was the width of the tire and the 40, 45 was the thickness from the rim to the edge of the tire...

So 205/50 and 225/50 will not have the same "profile" (thickness from the rim to edge of tire); even though they have the same second number.

Re: 17 Inch Tires on a 1997 Prelude
i ran 215/45/17 and had slight rubbing issues for the rear during extremely hard turning or going over a bump at a certain angle. may need to roll the fenders out just a tad
