i have a '98 eclipse and i am having a lot of problems with oil leaks. they said that i have an oil leak coming from my header and that it needed to be replaced. i have connections to get the header for a pretty good price, and my boyfriend could put it in...only he has never worked on an import...does anyone know of any sites that i can go to that can show me how to take a header..or engine out of a 98 mits rs eclipse 2.0 dohc..non turbo?...and also, does anyone know about recalls on this for the oil leaks?? thanks!!

the RS isn't really an import, so its not much of a difference.

Are you sure that oil is leaking from your header and not your head? I don't see how oil could possibly leak from a header because there's no oil anywhere around it. However a head is a completely different issue.

it is the head...they just told me that i needed a new header and all kinds of other stuff as well...i really didnt know what to do...but it is the head

a header won't solve your oil leak problem. look at the engine and see if you can tell where its' coming from. my guess is that it's the valve cover gasket. that's a pretty easy change. just pull out the plugs, wires, coilpack, then undo the 10 or so bolts that hold it on, pull off the valve cover (that's the thing that says DOHC 2.0L 16valve) and pull off the old gasket. make sure when you buy a new one (napa, autozone, any auto parts store should have it, get a felpro gasket), make sure they give you the spark plug seals too. then take and install the new one, put the plug seals in, make sure everything stays in (sometimes the plug seals like to fall out when you tip it back over to put it on) and if everything is lined up right, re-tighten the bolts, install coilpack, wires, and might as well get new plugs while you got them out. let us know how it goes.
