I thought that was normal. Mine does that a bit, nothing really erratic...but start, 1k up to 2k settle into 1,500, then after running a while, at stop lights it idles just under a grand.
I thought it was just start up excess.

Re: 96 Civic HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
i started noticing that with my car when i did the obd1 conver.,but obdII u might wanna try the iac, likes to get dirty, if u changed ur tps...u might wanna calibrate it so at ct its at .45v and at wot its at 4.5-5v, but mostly mine does it until it gets into closed loop

in other words...huh? English? Or atleast write out the acronyms? Please? This post makes me wonder if I need to look at something with my car, but not knowing that explanation kinda prevents, at least me, from doing so. word.

Re: 96 Civic HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
iac= idle air control, located on the back of the intake manifold,...i believe 2 10mm bolts hold it on...dont remeber, take it off, and theres a screen see if its dirty...tps= throttle position sensor, at ct(closed throttle or idle) voltage reading should be .45v, at wot(wide open throttle) we're looking at just under 5v's...preferably 4.5v
