Re: Engine Electronics

first question....never heard of the C2DI. ignition systems dont do much for our cars.

second question....if you want to adjust the air/fuel ratio, then get a SAFC. the EMS is a full stand alone engine management. its not a piggyback systems. it replaces your ECU. with the EMS, you control EVERYTHING. fuel maps, timing, EVERYTHING. also the EMS is only made for the 4cyl manual 3G

Re: Engine Electronics

ok lets get this straight. the safc, emanage, and EMS are not a performance upgrade. if your car is stock, then you will get nothing from these. if you have intake and exhaust, these will give you nothing. if you have intake/headers/exhaust, then the safc might give you a couple of HP.

the Emanage and the EMS are used mainly on FI cars. the emanage is one of the most widely used tuning devices. you would be throwing your money away if you get either one of these on a non-FI car.

yes the safc and the emanage are piggybacks

I dont know where to begin.. "this SAFC.." Ok obvsiouly you dont know alot about car electronics. You need to go to you local tuner shop and hang out with those guy's for awhile. Also go to the ApexI USA website, andf look around. A good amount of electronics you will ever need to know about are on that website. Als Chack out Greddy while your at it.

Re: Engine Electronics

im not trying to be an ass, but Back has a point. you obviously know nothing about engine electronics. you need to look around the web. not only at the Apexi and greddy sites, but any site you can find that explains what the SAFC and other engine management units do

Why do you need to control electronics if you are running NA?

Re: Engine Electronics

He doesnt. He probably heard the term tossed around his local meet spot last weekend. He just needs to further investigate things more. The ONLY time you would ever need a SAFC, E-manage, DSM Link, or anything else is when you are running a turbo setup, or you really have a built engine. For s atraigt answer for what a SAFC is here it is..... A SAFC adjust's your fuel to air ratio. By doing this you can lean* out or fatten** your car. It also is a good way to monitor your fuel curves, and accurate way to watch your tach, and a few other nifty things.

*Lean- To lessen the amount of gasoline to make your car burn hotter. If you lean out your car too much you WILL burn a hole in your piston. head/ head gasket.
**Fatten- To add gasoline to the will make sure you do not burn a hole in your piston etc... Can cause the fouling of your plugs though if ran too ric. Also can shorten the life of your catyltic converter, and make your car not pass emision testing.

(This is just a quick answer to your question. For further info research it! God Bless Google!)

i do not completely agree with everything there. i agree with everything except for the use of the SAFC. you NEED an SAFC if you have a GOOD set of headers. RIPP and Hytech both need to be tuned or they will run filthy rich. and the easiest way is with the SAFC

Ahh I stand corrected. You cant just run hotter spark plugs to correct that though? Thats what I did on my quad whenever it ran just fat enough that it needed to run leaner, but i was just too lazy to change out the jetting.
