Hey guys! I've seen some info on replacing the viscous coupler while still in the vehicle but I'm either "missing something" or not using a big enough hammer. I removed the rear drive shaft, the speedo sender, the four bolts on the tail housing, and to the point of spreading the clip under the little cover on top of the case and even move the output shaft back and forth a bit but the housing just won't budge. I've used a good sized pry bar and a rubber mallet but nothing! I'm used to using more technique than brawn and I don't want to make a costly mistake. Any insight would GREATLY be appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Replacing VC on NP249
Make sure you spread the SNAP RING whiel pulling on the housing, The hardest part about this job (replacing VC while still on the jeep) is getting the snapring spread while pulling the tail ousing off. It is a lil diffifucl to see the snapring - you might want to use a mirror.

Thanks Guys!!! Very helpful. Apparently, I just need to get more physical with it. I'll give it another "wack" today.
