1993 Escort

To make a long story short, I ran my little car into a ditch. After getting a good look at the damage, I am going to need: control arm, lower ball joint, and inner tie rod.

What I was wondering for the control arm, is that what other years can I look for that would inner-change with a 93. I went to one junk yard that had a 1990, would it be the same?

Also, one thing that I don't understand is that the tire is turned out and is very stiff to turn straight and when you let go it turned right back out. With the tie rod end broke in two would the big spring on the strut be causing this. Is it normal.

Thanks for all the help and please hurry I am going junkyard diving early Monday morning.

Re: 1993 Escort

For the tire-wheel to want to turn out I wouldn't think to be normal. Front end geometries are designed for the wheel to want to go straight ahead when not turned. If enough force was exert ed on your front end to break the tierod I would think you should put new strut assemblies in along with the control arm, ball joint and tierod. Get strut assemblies with the lower 1/2. You could use the spring and upper mounting hardware if not broken.
Make sure you mark the position of the top nuts. Changing their position will change the camber on your wheel. It would be a good idea to go to a front end shop that has the equipment (hydraulic jacks) to bend your front end back to original specs.
