Question what side wheel bearing?

just wondering what side wheel bearing is going.when i'm driving straight i can hear the bearing hum but when i turn slightly to the left the sound goes away.it's hard to tell if the sound is coming from left or right from inside van.also is the bearing fairly easy to replace, any special tools required if i tackle it myself? patience is wearing thin with the trouble this van is having i.e.-tranny,intake gasket, blistering hood paint, windows binding going up,fan doesn't work on speed 1,rear wiper works when it wants, passenger p.mirror keeps flipping in when door shuts, stereo light burnt out,and now wheel bearing(s) (i've had the major problems repaired so that this family can keep rolling)getting tired!!!!!!!!!!and poorer!!!!!!!!!!

Re: what side wheel bearing?

Usually the bad bearing is noisy on the outside of the turn. ie...if you hear the noise turning left but not right then it is probably the right bearing.

In your case I would think the left bearing may be going. When you turn left you are taking load off of that bearing making it quieter. Try jacking each side up off the ground and check for play in the bearing by rocking the wheel up and down and in and out. It's not difficult to change but about $350 minimum for the bearing/hub assembly.
