PurgingAir From Water (Coolant) Jacket Post Water Pump Change

Hiya People. I got a problem. After replacing a failed water pump, I'm charged with the task of getting this water jacket free of air and operating again.
Any ideas about the best way to do this? I seem to remember something I read about pointing the vehicle nose up a hill or nose down (it would make a little more sense) to help the system expel air... Of course the Hayne's manual says dump coolant into the reservoir and life will be hunky dory. Yeah, right.
This is the very last little (but very important) step to getting this job finally done. It's an 88 Cherokee, 4.0 (Straight Six)
Thanks!

Stephen

You need to burp the system by having the front end lower than the rear, run it till i gets warm....let it cool then purge the air by removing the temp sending unit on the block (driverside near the fire wall its brass btw) ONLY REMBER TO LET IT COOL A BIT FIRST then loosen the sending unit and keep a good hold on it let the air out till you see fluid....keep doing it till only water comes out
