Engine stalls
Hey, I have a 91 240SX with the KA engine. I hadn't cranked it up since before winter, and today I went out to crank it and it would start up, but it wouldn't Idle, instead itd just stall and cut off. To get it to keep running I would have to keep giving it a lot of gas, and when I did, it wouldnt rev past 4,000 RPMs. I checked spark to all 4 cylinders and they're all getting spark. I took the fuel filter off, and it rattled when I shook it, then I blew in it and a bunch of black gunk came out the "In" side when i stopped blowing. I thought well, this isnt normal, so I replaced the fuel filter, but it still stalls and cuts off. Then, I took the air intake tube off, and at the choke, there was white smoke coming out, especially when I opened the choke plate up. Anyone have any idea what could be causing that smoke to come out? I don't think its normal is it?

Re: Engine stalls
black gunk in the fuel filter? hrm... you should get that replaced.
I think the real problem is elsewhere, but try adjusting your IAA valve. Supposedly, it should be adjusted to an idle speed of 700 at idle. |
