Power stearing pump
on my 1998 Taurus (3.0L, 150k miles) power stearing pump makes some ugly noise (i think something wrong with axle bearing). Should I change axle or should I buy whole pump? and how much it would cost me?
Thanks |

Re: Power stearing pump
Unless you are a detail man, go buy a rebuilt pump and do an R&R. Should be able to get one with a lifetime guarantee at an auto parts store.

Re: Power stearing pump
la-z-boy what I meant is that the older taurus models had a special tool to pull the pully off the pump and u had to do this before u could get the pump out of the bracket and reverse to install it im really not sure if it was changed by the 98 model year, guess I should have done some research before I posted to your thread, I just wanted to give heads up they like to use odd things that require special tools.eigther way youll need a puller to get the pully off and on , no matter if its the one im thinking of or just a 2 or 3 jaw puller. also get a pump with the resivor already on it if you dont do much work on cars, they are kinda tricky to take off and put on. sorry if I created any confusion
