Keyless entry programming for 01 Aurora

Hi there,

Does anybody know the correct way to program a keyless entry remote for the 2001 Aurora - I just don't want to have the pay the dealerships $$$ to help me out on this.

Thanks

Oldzgirl.....You need a scan tool to program the remote for a 2001. The
scan tool is an expensive item. It's actually cheaper to let the dealer do
the programming.

Isnibs.....I looked at that thread at ACNA about programming the remote.
That's for the Classic. The procedure for remote programming for the
2001/03 is completely different. It's easy, it's just that you have to have a scan tool to do it. Here's the way it's done, according to the 2001 shop manual:

Re: Keyless entry programming for 01 Aurora

I have a specialist near my house with a couple generic scan tools. He said he could not get into the body menu with those tools. Does that mean he cannot perform the procedure with those tools? Does he have to have a GM Tech II? Or is there a way to get the 2001 Aurora in remote programming mode with other scan tools?

Thanks guys,
Peter

UPDATE: Here are images of the two tools he has:

He had an older version of this without the color screen:

Welcome to AF.

Sorry but due to old thread guidelines this thread has been closed. Please check the date of the last post. Your future cooperation is appreciated.

To answer your question it must be a GM Tech 2 scan tool.
