so i was hangin out with some friends that like to talk about cars and stuff, and one had a 02 cavalier with an exhaust tip, dont think hes a ricer just yet, because he knows his shit when it comes to cars, buut he wanted to run em, so i said whatever. btw hiis car is manual too.
we lined up and counted down, and he started burning them a little bit off the line, so i smoked him off the line launching at 3k rpm. once he caught traction i just started gaining on him little by little, and ended up winning by like 2-3 car lengths.
this second car i did not expect to beat, it abslutely blew my mind.
so i lined up against another friend, in his v6 camaro.....its an auto but still he has a v6 camaro, and i have a 4 cyl... anyway, i launched at 3k but this time it kinda bogged down and then raced right back up again, i took him off the line and killed him in second gear, from then on nobody gained on anyone.i ended up winning by 1/2 - 1 car length.
i want to get my car fast enought to beat a wrx with 8k in mods. (nothing big just an ecu an up/down pipe, and a sti CF hood scoop that he imported from japan.) but i dought thats going to happen anytime in the near future.

well my friend has a grand prix gtp, which is the same motor (w/o the supercharger) so i thought it would beat me, i didnt think that the 3800 series engines were that bad. guess i was wrong.

yea it will take you a long time to beat a wrx with 8k in mods...those things will destroy you off the line...AWD rocks for that...on top of that..it has what...241hp to the 4 wheels...way more than a 240...thats more than my sr motor with about 3 grand into it...

wait 8k in mods, and you say nothing big , just ecu and up and down pipe and a hood? that down and up pipe and the hood better give you 200hp for $8k

so are you saying you have a turbo now? or wanting to get one soon? because for $8k its not nothing big... its big gains from big mods

just put LSD in, if you dont already have one. throw a turbo on, intercooler, ECU, waste gate, injectors, all the little neat stuff, then boost it up to 15 and you should be pushing 350-400hp and stock internals can handle 400hp and the crank can hold up to 600hp so i think you are good to go, and that wont cost you $8k unless you plan on doing internals as well, so thats another $2k for rods and pistons.

you can take STI or EVO for $8k in mods to your car. If for $8k you get your car to 350-400hp at about 15 psi then you will make evo and sti owners cry. you see they run at like 21psi stock or something ... thats kinda stupid to have a factory car running 21 psi facotry, because those cars wont last long i dont think. But maybe off the line you wont take one of them, but once you start moving you will start catching up if you get a nice turbo set up going, nothing big and nothing small, just right. Something that will spool at around 3500-4000rpms

no, they run at 14psi stock. And just adding turbo and instantly pushing 15psi will probably blow your engine. Your going to need alot of stuf that could easily add up fast. Just because the guy spent 8k on his sti, doesnt mean that tim is going to spend 8k on his 240. I do think you could turbo and win, but it wont be that cheap. Have you ever seen the turbo's on the WRX's? They are pathetic, so small it looks like it would go on a go-cart. The STi's turbo is a bit bigger, but still disapointing.

no i dont have a turbo yet, but im well on my way in getting one.
the owner of the wrx took out a loan to buy the car and wait wait, get this, then took the 8k that he had saved up, and dumped it in to the car. pretty stupid if you ask me, id rather have to pay 32k than 40k. but o wait i only paid 1250 for my car. so he has 48k invested in his car. lets see if i put $46,750, into my 240 i think i could take him. LOL.

regular wrx. see what he was going to do was buy the regular wrx and then resell it and then buy an sti, but he found out hes not going to be able to sell it for what he thought, so he kept it and upgraded it.
