I just bought a 2003 Tiburon GT and I highly recomend you do too. If you buy a tiburon though, it will have to be a GT. The four cylinders are not nearly as sporty. The handling is great, although a little rough. The speed could use a little work(nothing a little moding can't fix) but I did waisted a '97 Eagle Talon with a few mods today and I have the automatic. It all depends on what you want out of it. If you wan't to race you will have to fix it up, if you want a daily driver with some spunk, this is your car.:licker:

A black GT passed me on the freeway today.

NICE!!

I think I might take that over a Celica...

the 2003 tiburons are without a doubt beautiful.. but then again what do you expect from a car designed by pininfarina? if you look at the Ferrari 456M you will probably notice the two cars look almost exactly the same. i think the only tiburon worth anything though is the GT V6 6spd, and even that is only putting 181BHP out of a freaking v6... so obviously the engines aren't the best in the world.. plus its FWD. but hey, it looks hella pretty

I donīt think is good copying other designs like hyundai does with the Coupe that curiously looks very similar to the ferrari 456. Ja, of course its another kind of car...

Just test drove the 6 speed in bright red today, I'm sold, too bad I think the infinity stereo was crap, but all in all, I think I might get it next week, never thought I'd be driving a hyundai! I also have a 2000 prelude, seems to be a close competition.

Actually the GS-R is the 6 speed, at least in Canada it is. The GT only has a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed auto in it up here.

The GS-R I drove has some nuts to it though, beat the snot out of the local 2002 TRD package Celica in a drift race with it. Handles responsively and likes the pedal to be punched in third gear and was able to push 230 kph easily. The only complaint I had is that the back seat and windshield are practically useless. The first gen of the car had better space on the interior but this one has the extra room under the hood that just begs to have an intercoolered turbo system installed in it. Also could use a spoiler replacement, the first gen ones were far more interesting and made the care look a little more unique IMHO, but theres also something to be said for aluminum and carbon fiber as well.

You want to go from a 2000 Honda Prelude to a Tiburon?? If you have a 5spd transmission on your lude then it should be faster than a Tiburon V6 6spd...taking equal drivers...not to mention the prelude has a much larger aftermarket support. Unless you are going just for looks which are totally subjective.

Just got a Tiburon 2003 2.0L last week (6/28). 300 miles total so far.

I wanted to find a sporty commuter car and picked this one over the usual suspect cars. I opted for the 2.0L(silver) as I wanted the better gas mileage, the tail of the 2.0L looks better (IMHO), and the price was right (18,000 out the door), the dealer also threw in a sunroof which is getting installed as I type this.

I'm still breaking the car in so I can't speak for its top-end and handling under duress. However, I can say that it is at least as quick and handles as nice as an 02 MR2.

I've just started to do some research and after-market on this car is better than I had thought. Maybe a few years down the line I may upgrade. This weekend I'm putting in a motorized antenna and Alpine head-unit. Thinking about putting the Tuscani emblems on too..

I have not seen another 03 Tiburon around in the streets of L.A. yet, its really nice to drive around knowing that there are very few of these beauties on the road. I'm getting a lot of hard looks by street rice-racers and auto-philes...

I've got some pics here:
www.delizo.com/images/tiburon/

I'll take some new pics next week to show off the sunroof and motor antenna.

yeh

I'm sure we'll be seeing more 03 Tibs around. I got me a carbon blue GT three weeks ago and have already put 2500 miles on it... irvine/pomona/valley commutes... The handling isn't too bad ... the engine (at least the 6cyl) is a little ajar... maybe to balance out the driver ... but it tends to understeer a little too much ... and it has some terrible torque steer - but that can be fun at times. Don't know about comparing it to a midship like the MR2, but definately impressed with the handling. I too have been getting a bit of hard stares from ppl trying to figger out what kind of car i have. I've whooped up on a Celica GT-S stock... but that was only to about 60... the high end power on that car is amazing ... just about caught me with that noisy 4-banger. Well, - aluminum dash trim - CAI - Exhaust - are all in the future for my car ... hope to see some more tibs out there

Compared to the last generation Tiburons, this car is fucking amazing. Shit, those last generation models were so fucking god-aweful.
