Help!!! I have change my fuel pump three times. Each time the mechanic says the fuel pump has gone bad. This time I hooked-up a 9 volt battery to the pump and tested it. It ran. The truck runs for about five days and then the fuel pump stops. Then the battery dies after a couple of days and I jump it. The truck runs for another five days. Some people have told me they think its the computer since 8 of my sensors seem to disabled according to the smog guy. I had my engine rebuilt about a year ago and nothing has worked right since. Any suggestions?????

Re: 1998 Chevy Suburban Fuel Pump
I would start by taking it to a certified GM dealer and let them run a complete diagnostic on your Burb. Depending on the engine rebuild and how everything was plugged back in you could have one or a whole bunch or problems.
Unless you have real bad luck I doubt if you were sold three bad fuel pumps in a row, and what's up with it only running for five days then needing a jump? Cars with computers need 12 volts to run... period. If you are getting 11 0r 9 they will not run right if at all. If your battery is weak or your alternator is not keeping the battery charged then you will have problems. And the main CPU (computer) can do all sorts of crazy things and the only way to find out for sure is to have someone with the propper software and knowledge diagnose it for you, not to metion the $20k computer from GM. Good luck and before you spend $money$ on another fuel pump, find out what's going on!
