waterpump 2001 cherokee

Hi I was talking to my mech when he was replacing my surp belt and he said he saw a small water leak and that it was probably from my waterpump. He also said that this was ok. Now I am noticing the leak and it is barely visable. Is this a bad thing or normal? Please help so I can get it takin care of.

thanx

The leak will only increase in time. But it may take some time before it become a problem. This is the sort of thing that I check for when I do a job. It's a lot cheaper to do several things all at once. Then to go back and do them one at a time. Now the belt will have to be pulled again anyway to do the pump. I have started doing a rad replacement and found the belts one hose and the water pump bad. Did it all for parts plus just the labor of replacing the pump. Would have done the timing chain for parts and 15 bucks more but that was not to be.
