Question Dakota stalling after 15 min

I have a 93 dak and it will run for about 15 to 20 min and then quit. Won't start but will act like it wants to, if you wait about an hour it will start and run for another 15 to 20 min. I changed the fuel filter, but still does the same thing. I was thinking that it was the fuel pump, but am not sure. I have about 188K on the truck. What do you thinK?

Re: Dakota stalling after 15 min

It is a very good posibillity do you have spark when
it dies out if you do then check your fuel pressure at the shrader valve at fuel rail valve looks like a air valve on your truck with plastic cap on drivers side
also this vehicle has wiring problems under power distribution center open harness and locate splice with red/white tracer wires often splice corrodes stopping fuel pump operation or spark or computor or all at the same time

Re: Dakota stalling after 15 min

Mine did this and it ended up being the catalytic converter. The honey comb on the inside of the converter was broken up and would heat up and expand clogging the exhaust. Backpressure would build up and shut down the engines.

I suggest checking ot see what kind of pressure you are getting from your exhaust pipe. if it is low this maybe the problem.
