Re: My speedometer wont work ?

pull the speedo cable from the trans, pull on the inner cable, if it pulls out of the housing then you found your problem.

Re: My speedometer wont work ?

yep replace speedo cable, it almost always solves the problem. After 15 years it tends to wear out. When i replaced mine it worked like new

well, check to see if the speedo cable has pulled out of either your gauge cluster (top pic) or your transmission (bottom pic). then it wont cost you a thing to fix it

Re: My speedometer wont work ?

its down in the back of the motor on the tranny, there is a wire that comes from the firewall and travels to the tranny, if you look im sure you'll be able to find it.

Re: My speedometer wont work ?

Mine wasnt working and it was still plugged in problem was that the little thing at the end of the cable wasnt aligned right so it didnt go all the way in. it goes in about an inch to and inch and a half if i remember right. if its plugged in and it doesent work try moving the plastic end and putting it back in. does yours even have the end in tact or did it break off?

Re: My speedometer wont work ?

is there a little plastic end coming out of the cable? its kinda like a little square or sonething i think. it turns when you move it. if you turn it have someone look at your speedo when you do it, do it light and if your speedo needle works then its just not plugged in far enough. if you push on it and it clicks keep pushing and it should click a second time. least thats what mine did.

Any time I have to reach around between the firewall and the motor, I end up dislocating the speedometer cable, mostly because there's a little clip that's supposed to hold it to the transmission, and my car is missing that clip.
When I work on something and the speedo stops, I just drive and see if it works. If it doesn't, I pull over and jiggle it. I drive again. Repeat. Sometimes it takes 6 tries.
It has always worked.
