1998 jxi won't start when fuel < 1/4 tank
My 1998 Sebring JXI will not start when the fuel gauge drops much below 1/4 tank. If the car is already running, it will drive until empty, but it wont re-start. Add gas, though, and its fine. Is there a sensor that turns off the fuel pump, or is something else wrong?

Re: 1998 jxi won't start when fuel < 1/4 tank
never heard of this problem only thing i could think of is maybe your gas tank has been hit andpushed tank upwards not allowing pump retrieve fuel into
pump reservoir but when you are driving with low fuel it will keep running cause of the fuel splashing in tank and reservoir then gets fuel and when engine is running the fuel return dumps fuel into reservoir constantly to keep pump submerged in fuel to keep cool. Check your tank for damage |

I had the same problem with mine and I added some fuel additive to get rid of water and clean the injectors and it seemed to fix the problem for me.
