Question 99 Sonoma - Engine dies after 1 second (alarm??)

I just bought a used 99 GMC Sonoma from a local dealer, and the truck has been running fine these last two weeks, but the other day I got in to start it, and turned the key, and the engine turned over, started to run, and after 1 second it died. I noticed now that a little light had turned on saying 'security' and now it won't go off no matter what I do, and the truck won't run for more then a second. I need help figuring out how to disable this. I don't have the keyless entry thing because homeboy that sold the truck didn't have them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It probably is in the security part of the computer that is having the problem. I believe the key has a chip that disables the security anyway and the keyless entry things aren't needed...though I may be wrong about that. My friend has a Monte Carlo with that light on and most of the time his car starts fine, but every once in a while it wont even turn over. His has a security issue and the fix is about $300. I think they have to replace the security part of the computer.

That's what I thought too, because with my buddies Dodge as soon as you stick the key in the ignition and turn it over the alarm disables, but for me no such luck.

I'll look into what you said, replacing the computer or whatnot, if anybody else has any other suggestions, it would help alot.

The truck has the factory alarm installed on it.

Engine sstalling, electrical issues...

I had an issue a while back with stalling and problems starting. It turned out that my automatic started and alarm cooked my ignition. The ignition switch was cheap, but diagnosing the problem added a lot to the cost . I think the part was like $70, but after the labor, the job cost me like $300. I had them remove the alarm and automatic started to keep this from happening again
