Speeding Ticket Stories and Legal Help

I just got a ticket for 106 in a 65 and my lawyer is telling me to admit to it, take possible jail time (traffic jail, most likely overnight, if any), and like 100 hours community service. The only good part is the fine is like $200-300, relatively small for the high speed.

Has anyone else been caught speeding above 95 mph? What did you do about it?

I'm desperate for help and I'm sure plenty of people have been in this same position. Thanks for your help in advance.

in texas its a felony if you do 25 over the speed limit

i went a bit stupid for a while and did 80 in a 40 but now i am doing the speed limit which is amazing its the officers discretion wether they pull you over or not

and there isn't a quota like in super troopers which is a great film it was hilarious

I got pulled over in Arizona out of town on a highway for going 97. Luckily I had seen him and was able to brake down from 120 before he radared me. Even so, the speedlimit was only marked as 65. Being pulled over for speeding outside of city limits is much different then being pulled over inside of city limits. Being polite and respectful to the police officer was probably the best possible move I could have done, he wrote down my ticket as 84+. However that is still 20mph over the legal limit and it can become a felony if the court sees fit.

So my ticket came out to $207, but it really cost alot more. They made me attend 2 different traffic classes, each one over $100. And my insurance went up.

When I went to my court date is was nothing like I thought it would be. I very much doubt you will end up in a court room infront of a judge. When I got to the county judicial building the person working the front desk got my paperwork done and asked me how I plead (here is a hint for you guys, if you did it, admit it). So I plead guilty ofcourse, she told me the judge would meet with me in a few minutes. About 15 minutes later the judge came over asked me a few questions then said I would be eligible for traffic school since it was my first ticket.

I got off lucky compared to some stories I have heard about people speeding and such. If you handle it carefully and give respect to the people in charge, you will probably get off lightly.

Most of the time, they'll make you watch movies and see real dead drivers or go to the morgue and look at crash victims. Its only $50 and if it can get your fine reduced or points removed, its well worth it.

Traffic school in Nebraska sucks! It's a 4-hour driver's ed course but i do know this: go to court and PLEAD GUILTY, THEN APOLOGIZE AND REQUEST 90-DAYS COURT SUPERVISION. What this means is that for 90 days you are the court's b*tch; but when it's over your ticket is thrown out. You still have to pay the fine, but you won't get points on your license and your insurance won't find out.

Does that mean you are on probation or does the court require you to do community service or anything?

court supervision is pretty much just probation, only for way less time

94 in a 60, i just went to court , pleaded before a prosecuter, not to have it on my record fo rfear that it will affect my ability to attain employment, she increased the fine from 190 to 255, and defensive driving. not on my record hahahahaha. but i did get the ticket at midnite on a country road , so i wasn't endangering any lives, although i coulda spent the night in jail...usually over 30 in texas(and anything over 25 is NOT a felony), jsut do what i did, plead guilty and hope the officer doesn't show up for ur next court appearance.
