b. Do you know which cylinders are not firing? Are the two not firing adjacent to each other?.... Perform a compression test. c. All your efforts have been directed toward the engine electrical side. As chevyn0va1 requested, we need to know what type fuel injection system your engine has. d. Does the engine back-fire or make any other abnormal noises?

Re: only 2 cylinders firing
mine acted up like that twice over the past few years...both times it was the coil pack...it may be worth checking to see if all four coils are firing.

Never run a vehicle with a miss because it will cause your cat to melt down and plug, they are expensive to change.

Re: only 2 cylinders firing
It's a 96 so more than likely its EFI.. I'd suggest 2 of the above things first, and after you have done them, you will know more than likely what your issue is.
1) check for spark on all wires. a. Bad coil pack b. Bad ignition module 2) compression check a. Blow head gasket b. Rings Was the engine smoking before it started this? If so what color smoke? |
