To answer a question I've recieved....

I've had a few questions about why I decided to get the nitrous. Here's the few reasons why.
1. You guys remember the vid I posted of the race with the mach 1? Well, I was told it was a light bolt on Mach 1. I thought it was going to be an easy victory, and it was looking like so. Everyone remember how far ahead I was on him when we went by the camera. I got the holeshot on him hard and pulled him to about 2 car lengths by the time we went by the camera. All of a sudden, my pull stopped and he started reeling in on me(not hard, but constant). By the time we got to the end, he had a foot on me at the line. I had never given it much thought, until I was finally told the truth. Yep, that's right, he sprayed on me. I knew something was up, because I've ran a light bolt on mach 1, and he didn't run a 12.64 like this one did. Not really the point, since I would have beat him, had I got a slightly better light. My ET was better, just not good enough to make up for the light.
Point of this explaination being that some people, like me, try to ring others out of money, and if we would have bet, I would have lost. I don't want any more of these unexpected surprises.

2. The second reason is because I really can't get much more aggresive with engine/drivetrain upgrades. I could go with a slightly larger cam and stall, and definately be in the 11s on motor, but, to be honest, I'm really dancing on the edge of losing daily driveability. Right now, it is a daily driver(30 miles both ways to be exact). If I go any crazier with it, I risk losing streetability with too much of a mid/high end cam and too much stall. It wouldn't have enough low end power for cruising around town at really low speeds. With the nitrous, I don't put any more wear and tear on a "daily" basis. I only use it when I need it. With all of the safety features, I'm not really taking as much of a risk as with going with a more aggresive setup.

3. This setup is dying for a nice shot of nitrous. I'm getting pretty good ets right now, but I need something to help me out on 'street races" with cars that pull well over 100mph. At a track environment, I have the upper hand on alot of cars with my low 60ft time and low ET. This isn't always the case on the street. A ton of street races start from a roll and most are hard to depict on exactly a 1/4 mile. Most go well over 1/4 and well over 100mph. If I want to run with the better street cars, I need to get my trap speeds up. I most likely will still get caught in the high end, but the nitrous is going to give me enough to stretch the lead on out.

There's probably a few more reasons why(mainly because I want 11s ), but until I get another daily driver, I'm going to have to be content with the setup the way it is. When I finally get another vehicle to drive, I'm probably going to push this motor beyond it's limits and then upgrade to a built 408/turbo setup. Then, we'll see what 10s feels like.

Very respectable reasons. Good luck with your pursuit of 11s.

I will be looking at going to the bottle once I get into the 10s which will hopefully be this year.
Of course, I have a power adder already with the turbocharger.

Once I touch tens, I will think about being bottle-fed ...

Hey man, dont need to explain it to me, I'm all for the juice in a nice set up. I think its gonna be bad ass seeing that thing in action once you get it on the spray. And like they all say, nothing beats bang for buck than nitrous.

I'm actually thinking of juicing the Civic at this point. A TC or SC kit are a little too expensive for my taste right now. Plus I have too many miles on my motor. So I think Go Go Juice is the best idea for now. L8...

Re: To answer a question I've recieved....

yeah the bottle isnt that bad, i used to be against it but im starting to see its value. Ive actually thought about running a small dry shot in mine. I dont want to try a DP, and i cant run a wet through the blower, so i was thinking on a small 35 shot, but that prolly wont be till next year or so.
Good luck with the bottle, just make you got EVERYTHING tuned properly, its very easy to blow an engine on N02.

Average is $3 a pound. With a 10 pound bottle your looking at about $30 a fill. N20 is the best bang for buck in the begining, but it adds up. Believe me, I considered spraying.

okay ... so a 10lb bottle is $30 ... how many 10 second runs could a 2.0 liter get out of it spraying all gears?

Thats what I was gonna say, at 30bucks a bottle...It adds up in the end. Turbo/SC is an investment in the begining, but Nitrous will start to kill ya in the long run. But hey man, its still gonna be cool. Can't wait to see a vid of it on the spray.
