solenoid sensor

I have been having some problems with my 4x4 as of late and the check 4 wheel drive light keeps coming on. I have replaced the switch in the dash and this has not helped yet either. I have heard that the solenoids on these trucks go out frequently and are easy to replace?? I have not done this yet...so the qustion I have, is it an easy task or should it go to a dealer to take care of the problem? Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Re: solenoid sensor

ok, I put a new solenoid and it still is giving me troubles. It now seems as if it will not quite get out of 4x4 in full. When I am driving in 2 hi it makes a lot of noise and feels like it is trying to get into 4 wheel drive. I have replaced the dash switch, solenoid, and I am now at a loss...any ideas???
