slight drivers side rattle over bumps felt in floorboard
any ideas? My right side has a bad bearing I believe...as I was informed....with the muffed "RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" I get at highway speeds when I turn to my left.
Not sure what this would be on the left side though. Steering seems pretty tight. |

Sounds to me that it could be your door hinge pins that are causing this noise. The original bushings in the door pins are known for going bad. You can get replacement pins and bushings in the help section of most auto part stores. I know this might sound a little crazy but I had this same problem.

Re: Re: slight drivers side rattle over bumps felt in floorboard
no, I've replaced door pins....thats not the sound, but thanks.
Blazer LT, just did the passenger side, fixed the hum/roar noise around corners to the left. You think that rattle is the bearing too? Should I be able to feel it shift by hand jerking the tire around side to side & top to bottom? |

Trust me , just check your door pins before you replace a bearing that does not need to be replaced. Most people overlook these these simple things and begin to spend alot of money just replacing part after part. If it is just a rattling feeling under the floor pan than this is most likely your problem, people also mistake this sound for a cracked contol arm.

Re: slight drivers side rattle over bumps felt in floorboard
dude. trust ME.
I know what door pins sound like. I've done them...i.e.- I know what they sound like when they're bad. I know what they look like when they're bad. I know they were done right, and don't need to be replaced. As BlazerLT said: "this has NOTHING to do with door pins" |

Have you installed the spring washers yet for it?

yeah. installed the washers when it turned out to be the door pins. no rattle from the hood. just checked it again by hand.

Re: Re: Re: Re: slight drivers side rattle over bumps felt in floorboard
hey. although I can barely get any movement shaking the hood by hand up by the hinge, I threw a work glove in the slot and closed it, and it seems like it MAY have gotten rid of the rattle. I can't be sure yet. Although, heres my problem. What do I have to do if its still rattling after the washer install? Im thinking I may try to add another one or two on top of the first one and try that. Any other ideas? Hoping that this IS in fact the rattle. But think I'd be able to feel it in the floorboard?

Re: slight drivers side rattle over bumps felt in floorboard
Did you install the washer so that the narrower end pointed towards the threads?

Re: slight drivers side rattle over bumps felt in floorboard
Did you make sure the bolt was centered when you inserted it inthe hinge?
Maybe tighten it a bit.

Re: slight drivers side rattle over bumps felt in floorboard
Do you mind me asking for clarification on the spring washers? Is there a hood fix I missed? Thanks and sorry for the interruption.

Search for clunk fix.

Re: slight drivers side rattle over bumps felt in floorboard
My washers actually got flattened when I tightened them into the hood. They aren't so springy now, but the hood stays on tight somehow.
