It is under the rear seat in my Hyundai 2000 Accent L. It is a pain in the butt to get at and you have to shut off the fuel before you attempt to replace it. The guy said he'd charge me $100+ to replace it because it is a pain to get to. Go to the Hyudai Web Tech - Go to www.hyundaiusa.com and look under owners and you maintenance tab and it should provide you the url for web tech. Put in the info and they will show you a schematic of all parts and instructions for replacing same. Hope that helps.

your accents fuel filter is located behind the engine close to the fire wall.
you will see a black can type object (soup size approx) witht he hose / fitting going to its top etc...

What about for the 2000 Accent L 2 door hatchback? I was told you had to remove the rear seat to get to it. I'm about ready to replace 35,000+. Had Hyundai put in last one but ain't into spending top dollar on a Hyundai but will probably use their OEM filter. I know 99 and 00 are a bit different. Can anyone clear this up? I looked on Web Tech and I'll be damned if I could find anything on there worthwhile without registering and I feel as Groucho Marx "Any Club that would have me as a Member I wouldn't want to join." Thanks and sorry for the bum tip. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Anyone know about the 2000 L fuel filter. Do I have to remove lower back seat in hatchback to get to it or is it located same as above? I know I could look but it's 8:18 PM and it's dark and 10 degrees and then again I gotta know what I'm looking for - it's all one soup box to me. My thing is audio. I could smell Krell or Wilson a mile away. And 5 way - take it from the Fredster - two ears = 2 speakers. Spend your money on them and the power amps and pre amps. Home Theater not a thing I know. Like MTV. In my day we dropped a couple tabs, turned up the tunes, turned down the TV, and watched all kinds of crazy stuff to the beat of Dark Side of the Moon. Ah, nostalgia. Hope ya get your car fixed and if anyone knows about the position of said fuel filter in a 2000 accent L hatchback please enlighten me? Sorry Rhondas - thinking always gets me in trouble. Peace.

Ya mon,

FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT
Reduce the internal pressure of the fuel lines and hoses by completing the following operations.

After removing the rear seat cushion, disconnect the fuel pump harness.

Start the engine. Allow it to stop by itself, then turn the ignition switch OFF.

Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal.

Connect the fuel pump harness connector.


Remove the eye bolts while holding the fuel filter nuts securely.

CAUTION
Cover the fuel filter with a shop towel to avoid residual gasoline from splashing.

Remove the fuel filter mounting bolts, then remove the fuel filter from the fuel filter clamp.

After replacing the fuel filter, check for fuel leaks.
