LOL. This could get big, but I will agree the euro cars are definately the best. Audi, BMW, MB, Porsche, Jaguar, AM, Ferrari, Lamborghini et cetera. Of course there is FIAT and all the other shitty cars.

I would have to agree that neither Japan nor America can compete with the cars from Europe. As stated above Europr has Ferarri, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, Lamborghini, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Volvo, Volkswagen, Renault, MG, Sabb, Lotus, and some others. I really don't see how anyone could argue this unless $ price is an objective in this comparison.
If price is a concern I would give the nod to Japan, just because they have so many affordable good cars. BTW, American cars don't stand a chance in this comparison (sports cars at least) other than Viper, Corvette, Mustang, and Camaro(soon to be gone) there is not alot else out there for American sports cars. IMO. |

I hate to say this, but I gotta admit that European cars are the elite when it comes to sports cars. The Japanese can hold their own, but I don't think anyone can beat out the Europeans when it comes to sports cars. And the American cars, I don't think they can compete with the Europeans or Japanese (except the Corvette, Viper, and a lot of old school V8's and V10's)

Europe (F50, F40, F355, 360M, 550M, 456GT, Murcielago, Diablo, all 911's, Boxter, Elise, Esprit, DB7, Vanquish, Stilo Abarth, 156 GTA, 147 GTA, Punto Abarth, Mini Cooper S, TVR, Jensen, Bentley, 3200GT, Quattrope/Ghibi........God I'd better stop- I am drooling onto the keyboard)
then Japan (Skyline GTR, Supra, Civic Type R, Teg Type R, RX8, Cosmo, Aleetza, NSX, Prelude Type S, R390, Silvia, WRX STi, 200SX) then ermmmmm in long-last-America (Corvette and Viper are the only good cars to come out of the States) Last edited by Jimster; 04-14-2004 at 04:42 AM. |

As to the only cars being worthwhile are the corvette or viper, i dont know if you follow history at all, but someof the best cars in the past were from american manufacturers. Shelby cobras, Ford GT-40s, GM Cheetahs(unfortunatly didn't ever reach enough production to be recognized, but would have given shelby a run for his money) the camaro and firebird, whether people like to admit it or not, have the capability of any car providing you can modify it. with the pricetag differences compared to some of the mentioned imported cars, its much cheaper.
american all the way. if you would like to ignore pricetag in this argument, then who cares? just claim a mclaren or koensigg car is the best and be done with it, of course they'll be better. they had limitless R&D budgets, they've only got 1 group to please(no matter what a PITA it is to please the wealthy, its still a focused group) they have only a few hundred, maybe a few thousand models to make, they can take their time on each one and make sure everything works perfectly. how about the reliability of these monsters, companies like ferrari who use titanium rods in some of their cars to help its ability to rev also sacrifice the durability of steel, for lighter weight. companies like GM, toyota, nissan, dodge, etc. cant afford to do such things because it would ruin their market and tarnish their image. I would like to see how well ferrari or lamborghini could mass produce their cars to match the corvettes numbers each year, or even the vipers, and have to please a wide range of people in the process. comparing a purebred sportscar to something made for the average enthusiast will always lead to the sportscar coming out on top. Nothing against these supercar manufacturers, they make excellent cars, i'm a big fan of Porsche's cars and would love to own any of the ones mentioned, but in the real world it's more possible for me to modify a camaro or corvette to these levels then to pay 10 times what the *modified* car would to get it, and possibly still have gripes because its not exactly the way i want it. It's all about personal opinion, go with what you like, just dont try to claim any one thing better then another because to someone else, you're wrong

well as much as i hate to admit it, if it comes to purebred super sport and exotic cars, then no one can top europe. the japanese can stand a chance, and the americans can keep up on hte straights. but you gotta look at the price difference between these cars. for a ferrari i can either buy 3 skylines, or one skyline and mod the hell out of it and then blow it away.

EUROPEEUROPE
for supercars, you just cant beat ferrari's, lambo's, astons, hell the list is endless. and for luxury? two words---Mercedes, BMW. and that is forgetting the extra special stuff like bentleys and rollers in performance japan can come close with skylines, supras etc. and luxury with lexus and america trails behind in a sorry 3rd place. best performance cars to come out of the US?: Viper--ridiculously low output from the size of the engine, not fond of corners, too heavy Corvette-- not hugely fast, refuses to go round corners GT40--now this is an exception, the GT40 was, and still is even by todays standards----------BRILLIANT as for luxury? dont even pretend that a cadillac or a lincoln can match a merc and the guy who mentioned jap race cars?--merc CLR, BMW's GT1 effort. God knows how many different Porsche GT1 variants, Jag's, Bentleys and the currently unbeatable Audi R8 |
