Unhappy Is my baby dying?

Hey there,

I have a '90 Chev K1500 sportside, with a 305, which is in mint condition....well it was. A few weeks ago I noticed a metallic rattle upon acceleration. It is erratic, and only lasts for a second or two. It gets worse as the vehicle heats up. It is also worse at mid-range rpms, or any time it has a load on. The truck is not producing any codes, so the dealer says they can't do anything. I have heard everything now from bad gas to cam shaft. I am quite concerned about the truck, as it hesitates when it makes the noise. People have been fiddling with the timing, which reduces the rattle, but does not make it go away. All they seem to accomplish is making it run badly.....
PLEASE! Any ideas would be HUGELY appreciated!

Re: Is my baby dying?

Sounds like maybe the torque converter. A torque converter rattle sometimes is mistaken as the motor.

Thanks! No one has suggested that.
