Boring the engine and Port Polishing.
So I'm thinking about boring out the engine and doing a Port Polish.... But I would like to know more info about it. Like what would I need to replace, what would be the best suggestions and what are the prices for doing such? What kind of lifetime out of the engine will I get for making the walls weaker? (3.8l) what will I have to replace/upgrade?
I'm always full of those damn questions.thanks again

Re: Boring the engine and Port Polishing.
your gonna need new pistons for one. it will definatly push more power. but thats all i can tell ya, i have never done anything like that to a 3.8. so i dont know the thickness of the walls. but HYPSI87 would be the one that can help you, he is the god of 6 cylinder performance.

you can go .030 on a 3.8, but I would not go any further,
Also for a port and polish job, I would reccomend getting a video or book about it from jegs or summit or somewhere. There is alot more to it than just making the holes bigger.

Re: Boring the engine and Port Polishing.
Is .030" alot? what kind of performance gain would i see from that and portpolishing? And about how much would I be looking at to pay for someone to bore it out new cams and heads and port polishing all together?
