Where can i find Ultra fine Grit Paper - UK

hi guys,

i'm based in the UK and was wondering where i can find ultra fine grit paper? i can get upto 1200 grade but i would like to get get higher grades.

Tamiya makes some high-grit stuff, so that might be an option.

Check around for an auto-body supply place, they might have something you can use.

Halfords sell 1200 and 1500 grades

thanks. my local halfords 'superstore' only has 400 grade. I seen the Detail Master grit paper at mediamixhobby, does anyone know how big the sheets are? from the images there, they look pretty small, maybe A5 size!

I bought up to 2000 Tamiya grade online from Hong Kong but today bought some micromesh 8000 and 12000 grade from www.sylmasta.com - this is UK based but expensive!

i was wondering about the micromesh cloths - do you know how long they last? its says on the website, it says they're reuseable, i'm just wondering how true this is.....seems almost too good to be true!

They are washable, but I don't think they last forever. I brought a kit and was impressed with the results, but they are not easy to use.

And they are not cheap. But they can be worth it for the finish that can be gained from them.

3M also makes #8000 and #12000 fine papers.

Was just about to say I'd only bought them on the reccomendation of mickbench (Newbies stick together!).
I got very good results using 2000 grit and polish (prior to rubthroughs) but am quite keen to try micromesh as well!

Try Hannants (www.hannants.co.uk) They do mail order, or they have a shop at Colindale station on the Northern Line. They do Micromesh, and a lot of other superfine grit stuff.

If you're up for the shipping, the Novus 'Try It' pack from www.micromark.com is a good pick-up. The pads come in 5 or 6 different grits, you get 3 different polishing compounds, and 2 polishing cloths, as well as a good tutorial.
