What Damage have i caused ?

Hi.....im not the sharpest tool in the shead.....i think i just totaled my car.

i was learning how to instal an after market FIPC....( K&N air filter ).

i hit hit the + side of the battery with my wrench and sparks flew up into my face and i droped the wrench onto strut tower......the wrench prity mych welded it self to the car and the engine started to smoke. after i managd to pull the wrench offa the car i couldnt press accelerator peddle in at all.... and my car idles barely fast enough to keep the engine going ( idels at liek 3 hundred ) i think other things may have been welded as well i dont know for sure.....cant beleave i fuked up such a simple thing.

i feel liek the stupidest person on earth right now and im very sad that i couldnt do such a simple thing without messing it up so id appriciate it no one told me how dumb i am cause im prity sure i already know that.

anyone know what may have happened .....or have sugestions on what it is i may need to do to fix my car.

Re: What Damage have i caused ?

Its not uncommon for the motor to try to ground through the throttle cable, especially if the stock ground strap is hosed. I would just check every possible fuse, check the big wires (battery/starter related) and even the fuse box wires if youre feeling ambitous, and just hope for the best.

we've all done it once or twice dont feel stupid. just watch where the wrench and your hand are going to land next time, it saves your knuckles too.

Re: What Damage have i caused ?

I scratched my strut bar up pretty nice by taking the battery in and out so many times. The wrench/socket connected to the + battery post accidently hits the strut, sparks fly, and eveyrone jumps. You're not stupid. It happens to the best of us (even me.. and Im a god)

well the good news is that the throtle cable and some ground wires were the only things fried.......and then since i got the battery out the 2nd time without frying my car to death i took the bad with the good and instaled my K&N FIPK and now that looks nice and also my new greddy type-RS BOV came today too so when my UICP Hard pipping comes i can instal that too....its really nice looking =D and its Blue instead of Purple.....i didnt care for the type-R's Purple color = /

Re: What Damage have i caused ?

Lol, if I had seen this thread earlier I would have said, "I bet your throttle cable got welded to something" I guess that's why you couldn't move the pedal.

This thread reminds me of the time I got my deep socket stuck in the spark plug well

Glad everything worked out--enjoy the new mods!
