Rear axle ratio...
Used to have a 90 Nissan Pickup till my wife swerved to miss a dog and rolled it (She managed to miss the dog and even walked away from it without a scratch but the truck wasn't so lucky... so far everyone has told her to just hit the dog next time). I've also got a 73 MG Midget that didn't have an engine and trans. (I'm sure you can see where I went with this) now I've got an incredibly light car (around 1600 pounds) with a much more powerful engine than it came with.
When I put the engine and trans in the car mI kinda figured it might be a little too much power for the stock MG rear end... and wouldn't ya know it, I was right. Now that I have a MG rear ned with no more teeth on the ring gear, I'm in the process of installing the nissan pickup rear end in the midget (more work with the sawzall).
My question is: does anyone know what the axle ratio in in a 90 nissan pickup, (2.4 engine and 5 speed trans) the midget had 3.90 gears in it, and I know the pickup rear end has a higher ratio, but I don't know exactly what that ratio is.
By the way, in case anyone is wondering, for the week and a half the stock rear end held together this thing was stupid fast. I plan on putting a turbo on it soon which I hope will make it insanely fast...
