2000 intrepid dying

hi guys, i have a 2000 dodge intrepid with the infamous 2.7 engine....its currently got over 130000 and its gonna die soon.....i want to replace the engine but as long as im spending my money on an engine...is there a better engine to replace it with? something that lasts longer? higher horsepower? by the way will a 2000 viper rt engine fit? i have a chance to get one for about 500 bucks.......any comments greatly appreciated. thanks

A Viper V-10 will not fit in this car; if you want a significantly more powerful engine, you can opt for the 3.2 liter V6.

Re: 2000 intrepid dying

not too sure a 3.2 will bolt to trans or torque converter and if it does you need 3.0 wiring harness and3.2 pcm and possibly 3.2trans controller
easier to by a different vehicle with more power or better engine

Re: 2000 intrepid dying

It'll work just fine, a friend of mine did it to his '00 Intrepid, all he did was switch out the computer, power steering pump, A/C compressor and lines. It'll bolt up the the tranny just fine.
