suspension opinions

hi, i would like to get some opinions about redoing my suspension.

i have an 89 Honda CRX Si with 17" Eagle Alloy's Series 169 wrapped in Dunlop SP Sport FM901 205/40/ZR17 tires.

i pretty much like the current ride height, and am not really concerned about dropping the car, what i want to achieve is a plain smoother ride since after upgrading the wheels and tires to a larger size the ride has gotten a little rough especially on a bumpy street.

if anyone could give me any ideas that would be great.

Well you kind of answered your own question. Look at the size wall of your 17s and look at the side walls of 14 and 15" wheels.

Not going to get any comfort with any suspension upgrade. Gotta downgrade the wheel size.

so you're saying that no suspension upgrade whatsoever is going to improve the smoothness of my ride without sacrificing the sizing on my wheels and tires? if that's the case, ill just drive it like it is, i like my 17's and it's not unbearably rough at all, i just thought it might be possible to smooth it out a little more than it is.

Now this is my own opinion but you would get better performance from a set of 15x7" wheels with 205/50x15" than you heavy 17s. Plus you would have more sidewall and make for a more comfortable ride.

Other thing is 15" wheels are lighter, 15" tires are easier to find in Honda sizes, and you actually can get more mechanical grip from a softer tire.
