Performance Shift

Iv'e got a 1999 GT and on the instrument cluster I can see the words Perf Shift. I'm pretty sure the car has everything but the supercharger. Does performance shift only come with gtp's? If not what do I have to do to activate it?

Send a message via AIM to v8soldier
If it is set up the same way as my 2000 GTP it should have a little button on the side of the shifter you can push to engage/disengage the performance shift.

I'm pretty sure Performance Shift (PS) was not available on the GT in spite of the fact that Pontiac used the same DIC. To activate PS you'll need a reprogrammed PCM.

You can make the light on the dash come on if you want. On my 2000Gt it was blue, I just grounded one side of the light bulb, behind the instrument cluster.

If you have the reprogramed PCM you don't need a buttom. You can wire a switch. That what a couple of guys have done.
Wireing the light on? Why? that like putting Hemi tags on a Chevy.

So do I, but I have a switch which turns it on and off. Want to know for sure if it's "on"? Take your car up to about 35-38 MPH and "jump on it". If it jumps into 1st gear, it's on. If it doesn't, wire a off/on switch.
For that, I would get a hold of Cass.

If you have a reprogrammed PCM and you want to run Performance Shift always on, You can simply run a jumper wire from pin 21 on the clear connector to ground...............Yay!
