Re: Which hatch...

what are you looking for? lightweight? most options? best out of the box with no mods?
i will break it down for you a bit and hopefully answer all those.
lightest- cx, then vx, then dx,then si
most options (sunroof, a/c (some), power options, better interior, etc)- si
best out of the box with no mods- si i perfer.
most potential to perform- cx because of the weight being so little and the fact that everything can be switched if you really want.

For weight, go with a CX or VX. I have a VX and that thing is stripped. I don't have windshield washer fluid, power steering, A/C... or a passenger side mirror.

Re: Which hatch...

Well any of the stock Civics aren't going to pack a lot of power unless you do a turbo kit (preferably on the Si), or do an engine swap (and turbo depending).

The VX weighs the lightest with a 2,094-lb curb weight, the CX not far behind at 2,108 lbs, the DX at 2,178 lbs and the Si weighing 2,390 lbs. The VX and CX are plastered with less sound-deadening materials than the DX or especially the Si. Otherwise, the difference in weight has to do with lighter wheels on the VX, lack of air conditioning and, on the DX, additional small items like an adjustable steering column, and cargo cover, so by buying any of those three models with plans to modify them, like different motor id go VX for the easier wireing cause it already has Vtec and a tac. But if you dont do engine swap Si is better with its motor.

Re: Which hatch...

The VX isn't always lighter than the CX. I have a CX that weighs 2044lbs and my friends VX weighs 2094lbs; both with A/C stock (it was an option for both). So the weight difference varies. But I definently agree that the VX would be the best idea; with it's prewired vtec and tachometer.

My VX is totaly gutted in the rear... and for the engine bay, I put an SI swap in there and basically have the motor... radiator.. and the battery. I took everything else out, including windshield washer fluid.
