yet ANOTHER car breakdown (cry)
any of you regulars know what my car has gone through lately. Monday night, i was on my way home, and was on the entrance ramp to the interstate. 1/2 way up, my car lost all power (it was still running, but wouldn't go forward). i pulled over, and put it into 1st gear, and let off the clutch. car doesn't move, not in any gear. hell, when i put it in gear and let off the clutch it doesn't kill the car, it just sits there.
possible problems: clutch is loose, tranny and/or TC is bad (this is not likely since it's rebuilt and has like 18k miles on it. Let's hope the clutch is loose Will know tomorrow as a tranny shop is looking at it tomorrow.

sorry to hear about your run of bad luck. just one thing after another. if your clutch is loose, then wouldn't the people who installed it recently be in question? i remember you recently got a 6 puck RPS. i'd be very very wary of that. best of luck tho, let us know how it turns out.

dude sorry to hear that. Did they resurface your flywheel when they changed your clutch??? Dident you have to get a new tranny and T-case? maybe there something wrong with the tranny. I know my cousin on his 300ZX Twin turbo his car kinda did the same thing and when they took his clutch out one of the springs on the clutch had came off.
OOH i think i know what it is!!! did you break in to your clutch when you got it? meaning that drive it niceally for atleast 400 to 500 miles!!!! When i got my clutch i drove it for 1000 miles before i start going at it. When my cousin took it to the dealer they told him that because of him not breakin into the clutch, the spring came off and the dealer was the one that installed the clutch for him. But again i am really sorry, becuase i know how that crap feels when nothing wants to go right. Hope its just a minor thing and you dont have to spend a bunch to fix it. GOOD LUCK |

Hate to say it but sounds like a stripped output shaft to me.

yes it's a new clutch, got it in december.
the output shaft is fine. the shop looked at the cv joints/output shaft and those are fine.

Yeah, might as well sell it to me...let's see so what's the rest of the story, did it start working again? Possibilites that come to mind:
- Clutch Slave cylinder or lines needs bleeding/ has leak---would cause the pedal to not come back up though. - Clutch fork sticking ---it is supposed to be lubed when the clutch is put in...maybe when you press the clutch in the fork is getting stuck and not returning to its original position. - Clutch completely burnt away --- no clutch, no go (obviously). - Stripped output shaft --- although i've never heard of it happening, it would make sense. - Pressure plate broken --- the "fingers" on it could be bent causing the clutch to stay engaged all the time. Never heard of it happening but possible. - My first thought was the throw out bearing, could need lube to aid in releasing the clutch, could be getting stuck on the way back out. Hope something helps out of all that crap. |
